Duas for Marriage

Duas for Marriage in Islam

Marriage in Islam is a relationship built on faith, responsibility, mercy and mutual respect. Muslims may ask Allah for a righteous spouse, a blessed marriage and goodness in family life.

1. A Quranic Dua for a Righteous Family

Allah teaches us this supplication in Surah Al-Furqan:

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Meaning: Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.

Reference: Quran 25:74.

2. A Dua Asking Allah for Goodness

The Quran records the supplication of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him):

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Meaning: My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You would send down to me.

Reference: Quran 28:24.

This is a general supplication asking Allah for goodness. It is not stated in the Quran as a marriage-specific formula.

Preparing for Marriage

  • Ask Allah sincerely for what is good in this life and the Hereafter.
  • Consider faith, character, compatibility and mutual respect.
  • Seek advice from trustworthy family members and knowledgeable people.
  • Respect consent and the choices of both individuals.
  • Approach marriage with honesty, patience and responsibility.

An Important Reminder

No particular dua should be presented as a guaranteed way to marry a specific person. Supplication is an act of worship and should be accompanied by ethical conduct, wise decisions and trust in Allah.
